How do I get BOINC to respect my choice of default browser?>

Help->BOINC Website and Help->BOINC Manager both insist on loading Micro$oft Internet Explorer, the browser of last resort.

You set this in Windows, not in BOINC.

Start->(Settings->)Control Panel->Add/Remove Programs->Set Program Access and Defaults, Choose a default web browser, set it to which one you use. Press OK.
