Anyone else with an ATI video card having problems with the newer drivers? Version 7.4(from April) works fine, updating to 7.5 or 7.6, I see "BOINC screensaver loading" then nothing. The message logs shows errors - _________(whatever project it happens to be working on) not responding to screensaver, and something about exiting without a finished file. |

Can you roll back the drivers to see if it starts to work again? Basically try to reproduce the behavior. You didn't happen to update the BOINC core client at the same time?? Kathryn :o) |

Yeah, I reinstalled 7.4 and all is well again. I have recently updated to BOINC 5.10, but it did the same thing when Catalyst 7.5 came out last month while I still had BOINC 5.8. I'd like to run the latest drivers, but I guess I'll keep 7.4 until ATI addresses this. |

I'd say once a week or so a graphics issue pops up on one of the many forums. This will help us debug what's going on. Kathryn :o) |

There was at one time a problem with ATI catalyst and BOINC as they both tried to use the same port (1043 if I remember correctly) for communicating. But thought that had been fixed by BOINC now using port 31416. I think the original port was issued by the relevant authorities for BOINC use only, but it was found that both ATI and MS with Outlook, and derivatives, were found to be using it. No idea if this is still a problem, but it might be worth a look to see what ports are in use by the relevant programs. Andy edit] relevant authority IANA [/edit |
