What exactly will happen if I have a user running BOINC and then another user logs in to their own XP profile by "switching user." Is the manager smart enough to know that the process is still running with the first user still logged in?

That depends on how you installed BOINC.

When:

As a single user install, it'll only run for the person who installed it.
As a shared installation, it'll run for whomever logs in.
As a service install, it runs for everyone, even when no-one is logged in.

I installed it as shared. I'm just curious about what BOINC will do if a 2nd user logs in on XP, without the first user logging out. During the installation process I chose to have BOINC run at start up.
