I downloaded the new version of boinic (5.8.16) and now it will not connect to the "localhost". I uninstalled and reinstalled the older version that I had but it still does not work. I am not running a firewall other then the one in my router. I even uninstalled then deleted the folder of BONIC tried to reinstall but it still will not connect. ALL other programs will connect to the net except bonic. |

Sometimes Windows itself steals the port. If you type 'netstat -b', what do you find listed? (Often a reboot will fix this particular problem). |

Active connections proto local address foreign address state pid tcp dave:1280 isaac.ssl.Berkely.EDU:http TIME_WAIT 0 says same thing for 1281,1282,1285, 1286 It comes up and goes off so fasthad to do a ctrl printscreen to catch it. have tried to reboot, reinstall, delete, kick, even screaming at it nothing works it will not connect to a host, it keeps comming up with BOINICmanager is not currently connected to a BOINIC client. Please use the 'AdvasncedSelect Computer...' menu option to a bonic client. to connect to your local computer please use 'localhost' as the host name. when i do it comes upwith a password already in the box, i have tried it with the pw and with out. i have tried to put my computer name there even the setti website but nothing works. got anyhting else? will try it all. dont know what it did but it works now did not do anyhting but that netstat thing. but a BIG THANKS to you. |

Open a command line window first: Start->Run, type cmd and press OK. In this command line window, type netstat -a and press Enter. Copy all information from this window to a post here. You can also output to a text file: netstat -a>c:\netstat.txt will do so. Then just open the netstat.txt file on your C: drive to copy all the information from it. |
