I just wanted to post something positive (since there are a number of new people who are having problems with BOINC).

I'd like to consider myself an average computer user. I can get around Windows and the internet, as well as some other more specialized programs (like SPSS - a stats package).

And I'd like to think I'm reasonably intelligent (although I do know people who would argue with me).

I'm currently running BOINC 4.45 on my laptop. I'm connected to LHC@H, E@H, R@H, and PP@H. I've not had any major problems with either BOINC or the science apps.

When BOIND did end up going into panic mode (and me not realizing it) there were a lot of the "volunteers" who tried to help me figure out why I wasn't getting WUs for various projects.

I do try to pay it back by helping the best I can on the boards. I'm no programmer or engineer, but I can start people in the right direction with info from the Wiki (thanks to Paul).

So I guess what I'm trying to say is that I've really enjoyed the couple of weeks I've been around BOINC so far.

Maybe a little more patience is called for when trying new software, especially with software that communicates with the outside world regularly.
