Using Software Manger to install BOINC installed but doesn't run at all.
Using Flatpack to install but doesn't ask where to put the Data folder. First window that pops up when starting BOINC is what projects or project manger to use but there all blank.
Doesn't add to startup manger.
Notification window shows all black. But if you highlight from top left to bottom right and copy and past to Writer you see all notifications.

Mint 22.1 updated since 5/29/2025
BOINC Flatpack v8.0.2
BOINC v8.0.2 for Linux Mint 22.1 won't run.

Flatpak is a sandbox, so it keeps everything inside this sandbox, so it's natural that the Data folder is also inside this sandbox.
If you have any issues with Flatpak application - please report them here: https://github.com/flathub/edu.berkeley.BOINC/issues
Also, you can try to use our vanilla packages from here: https://boinc.berkeley.edu/linux_install.php
Since you are on Mint (and we don't provide Mint specific packages), you should modify the repository adding command to target that Ubuntu repo that was used to create your Mint repo.
BOINC maintainer.
