Hi all,

I have BOINC crunching numbers for SETI, ClimatePrediction.net and Rosetta.

However, since I upgraded it to 5.8.8 it is only processing ClimatePrediction.net???

Any explanations?

Cheers,
jfaulky.

Depends on whether BOINC is thinking now that the client is over-committed, but before that, upgrade to 5.8.11 as there were further tweaks made.

Could it also be the change where a task switch won't happen until a check point is reached?

Thanks, I'll try that. do I need to fully uninstall BOINC first, then do a fresh install of the updated version? Or is it simply install the new version directly over the top of the older one?

Cheers,
J.

Upgrading can be done over the top. I just exit out of BOINC and run the installer (at least on Windows).

Downgrading doesn't work. You have to uninstall through add/remove programs and then install.

I am running BOINC 5.8.11 WinXP I have several projects running - LHC is one. It's in transition, so rarely has work while they migrate servers. It backs itself off gradually from trying to get work in 7 sec, then in several minutes, then in several hours. Then repeats the cycle. However, if I run any other application (Einstein or Rosetta for example) then the LHC application stops looking for work completely. Even if it had thought it was a 1 minute interval to the next "poll" - no more requests - for hours. If I suspend the running applications LHC still doesn't look for work - I have to do a LHC update on the project screen to get it back into it's periodic polling.
Hope this is the right message thread, there are a lot. If not a question for here, any suggestions as to where this would fit? Is it a problem or a feature?

I seem to have a similar problem.
On my Mac, I'm running boincsimap and SETI. Currently there is no work for boincsimap, but I noticed that I had lost my SETI projects. So I reattached to SETI and found that after some time, I had lost all SETI projects again. This keeps happening since I upgraded to 5.8.17.
On my WIndows laptop I only run SETI, but there it's the same story. I need to reattach manually to SETI all the time.
