Running a fresh install of ubuntu Linux. I have the client working on my Windows machines ok. I keep getting this message when I try to Attach to a Project with the BOINC manager. I try to Select Computer either using the name localhost with or without my password, it says connecting to localhost at the bottom right hand corner of the window but does not succeed showing "Disconnected" after about 30 seconds or so.

Any help/pointers gratefully received.

Incidentally I also tried connecting without entering localhost as the name choice.

Many thanks.

Did you start the client too? I don't know if starting the Manager starts the client automatically on Linux.

No, I do not know how to start the client separately from the manager?

run_client script on BOINC installation directory. Same way run_manager starts the GUI. (this is specific to Linux afaik)
