I found the BOINC project ODLK2025 here https://boincsynergy.ca/wiki/index.php/BOINC_projects but not here https://boinc.berkeley.edu/projects.php |

In reply to Nataly-Mak's message of 20 Jan 2025: I found the BOINC project ODLK2025 here A new Project is usually added to the official list after a special request from the Project admin. Also, it doesn't mean that the project will be added to the list automatically, since it should follow some rules (mentioned on the top of the page with the approved projects), be stable enough (not alpha testing stage), have clear goals described on the main page that are also reasonable, and also be mature enough to gain some trust of the community and the BOINC maintainers. Please keep in mind that for the Project being added to the official list is not a mandatory step, and some of the projects by intention prefer to be NOT added to the list (e.g. the amount of work generated is small enough, or generated not so often). And for the Project is usually good to have a long testing period (for several months) to test hardware, work generation, and the science application itself to be sure that everything runs smooth, and server itself is capable of handling requests from hundreds and even thousands of users. What caught my eye at the first glance on the project is that the description is completely unclear (it contains only the links to the other projects without clear explanation why there should be another project (fourth is I count correctly) forked from the other existing projects instead of having everything inside the same project (please keep in mind you don't need to start a new project if you have another experiment or application of the same (or pretty much the same) scientific task)), goals of the project are not set as well. Please take a look at the other projects from the official list to get the inspiration and write clear and detailed project description together with its goals. Also, the project itself was launched ~1 month ago. I do believe that everything (application, work generation, server-side software) was tested before the launch, but usually laboratory conditions (let's say, single user testing) is different from the field testing, where a lot of users with different hardware join and start running your software and connecting to your server. I suggest you to run your project, get feedback from your users, fix found issues and then send an official request to add your project to the official list. Please also keep in mind that BOINC maintainers have no possibility to check fully every project by themselves, and often rely on the feedback from the community before making the final decision to add a new Project to the list. We also try to keep this list clean without dead and faulty projects. That is why freshly-launched projects are usually never added to the list. BOINC maintainer. I am not the project administrator, but I am the author of the project ©2025 Natalia Makarova and Co I sent a request to D. Anderson to add the project to the official list. I was denied. I will quote from the letter from D. Anderson I'd prefer not to have several overlapping BOINC projects. I answered all the questions that D. Anderson asked me. The reason for the refusal is not clear to me. The ODLK2025 project does not intersect with any other BOINC projects! This project does not intersect with the SPT BOINC project, and this is stated in the project description. I have a little idea about how BOINC projects are added to the official list, because I myself wrote a request to add ODLK and ODLK1 to the official list of BOINC projects. It was 7 years ago. By the way, these two projects also solve the same scientific problem and even use the same program. I quote D. Anderson again I suggest that you work with an existing BOINC project to do what you want; I am the administrator of the BOINC project SPT. And I wanted and want to launch a second Application in this BOINC project. But! I do not know how to launch Applications myself. And the person who manages the project and actually administers it refused to launch the second Application. And what should I do? Should I sit with my hands folded and wait for the weather to change? My colleague and I decided to launch a new BOINC project. I would like to emphasize once again: the new BOINC project does not intersect with the SPT BOINC project in any way. This is explained in the project description https://boinc.mak.termit.me/odlk2025/forum_thread.php?id=3&postid=5 I ask D. Anderson to clarify the reason for the refusal. I am still curious why the new BOINC project was denied inclusion in the official list of BOINC projects. |

I ask those involved in the ODLK2025 BOINC project to provide feedback on the project (if this can help the project to be included in the official list). |

The main page of the project - is the first that users see, and it's description is not good enough (again, take a look at the other projects), making project description on the forum is not a good way to present it. And you have completely ignored everything I wrote you. So please be so kind, make some tea, take a seat, and real carefully what I have wrote to you in my previous message. Yes, I know it has a lot of text, but it's very important to read it and understand. Also please keep in mind: we treat all the projects equally, and everything I have wrote there applies to all the projects that ask to be added to the official BOINC projects list. If you have any technical (not related directly to the BOINC server software) and/or communication issues with the project administrator - this is not our (BOINC maintainers) job to solve them for you. We can solve only the bugs in our software (both client and server). BOINC maintainer. For any insight, check my BOINC Development Blog. |

What??? I'm not asking you to solve my problems, I'm solving them myself. I'm asking to add my project to the official list. I've answered everything you wrote: I've known for 7 years how the BOINC project has been included in the official list. The description is also available at the link "About the ODLK2025 project" https://boinc.mak.termit.me/odlk2025/about.php Stupid quibbles! |

I was talking about the Project's main page: https://imgur.com/GNb57sg Stupid quibbles! As I already wrote you above, we treat all projects equally. And by saying this: I've answered everything you wrote: I've known for 7 years how the BOINC project has been included in the official list. You are basically telling me that you haven't read my message. I stated there quite detailed why it's better to have the project running for several months before being added to the official list. We as a BOINC maintainers take care not only about the Projects, but also about our users and community, and we want our users to have nice experience while using our product by contributing their hardware (and electricity bills) to the Projects. Also, as I mentioned before, for the Project to be added to the official list is not a mandatory step. And, as you said, you have running BOINC projects for 7 years, so you definitely should have know that, as well as that fact that the Project should provide all the required information to the new users just on the main page without forcing them to explore forum or any other website pages for the vital information like the Project description and its goals. You can argue as much as you want, but this will not solve anything. BOINC maintainer. For any insight, check my BOINC Development Blog. |

In 7 years you haven't learned how to administer a BOINC project when you've been involved in so many? You've repeatedly been asked why there are more projects instead of new apps in the same project. Maybe the SPT admin won't add another app for you when you repeatedly say the entire project should be shut down. When anyone contradicts you there, you delete the post. |

mmonnin In 7 years you still haven't learned to write to the point. This is about the BOINC project ODLK2025, not me. |

Everything that was written in this thread is related to your project, not you directly (and I intentionally pointed that we are not solving any technical and/or personal issues that are not related directly to the BOINC software). If you took anything personally - my apologies, this was not my intention. However, you have ignored everything that was written to you. And instead of fixing issues and politely answering people, you decided to attack them. Please, be careful and always think what you write: this is not your forum where you have admin permissions and can remove anything you don't like; for insulting people here you can be easily get banned, and I really don't believe this will make any positive impact on your Project. Too true, there’s no way I’d join this project having read this thread. Is this written by a serious guy? Oh, boys and girls, don't go to that horrible BOINC project ODLK2025, Baba Yaga is there, she'll eat you! By the way, mmonnin is in the project https://boinc.mak.termit.me/odlk2025/top_users.php mmonnin what are you doing in such a horrible project? Aren't you scared? :) |

By the way, mmonnin is in the projectSo what? There is nothing in what you have written that would attract me to joining the project either. It may not be your intention but the impression I get is that you are looking at confrontation rather than collaboration to get your way and to me that does not make it likely things will run smoothly. (Not that they always do on my favoured projects either but that is another matter!) |

Can’t create an account for this project, it says that my E-mail, and I’ve tried 2 different ones, has been blocked by stopforumspam.com What’s that all about? |

To quote from the stopforumspam's website: Your favorite and most trusted "one stop shop" for the prevention of forum & blog spam, trusted by over 200,000 forums... This suggests your email address, or a block of addresses on the same server, have been put on their black list. This can be the result of an over-zealous algorithm being used, or another user of the same email server having created a large amount of spam emails. There's little BOINC can do about this, but the next thing to do is to contact your email provider and register a complaint. |

Second reply - you have reported a similar problem when trying to sign up to minecraft@home. These two "problems" could well be the same one - your email address is being blocked by a bit of third-party software. |

Here is what he wrote to me later I did manage to join ODLK2025. No luck via the website but when I joined using BOINC Manager it allowed me to join. |
