Can you post the relevant section of your message tab when you do get that message.

And please give us some information about your setup. Type of computer, Operating System, how BOINC was installed...

If you are using a BOINC version 5.2.x or 5.4.x, this is most probably due to Seti moving ISPs and therefore their DNS addresses have changed. The BOINC 5.8.8 and above version recognize this problem and read the new DNS addresses automatically.

For the older versions you need to flush your DNS cache.
Exit BOINC.
In Windows: Start->Run, type cmd (Enter)
In the command window, type ipconfig /flushdns (enter)
Close command window.
Restart BOINC and Update Seti or Retry communications from the Advanced menu.

That should do it.
