My question is since there is an annual Consensus for BOINC users , why is it never seen in the 'Notices' tab of the software? Isn't this important enough to list there? You would probably get multiple times more participants. I did not know of this consensus until last year after it had passed. https://forms.fillout.com/t/m4ZSkCQMGAus?fbclid=IwY2xjawGzqB5leHRuA2FlbQIxMQABHYmHHkUORDKcpTKjDPnXYUSZ3yvghScALs4I_8FUGrkJ_2Ju-74S2R4FsA_aem_TJfvBS7JEXYa2nq499xmbA Bio-project WCG/SiDock/Rosetta cruncher whale ~320 Optiplex/Prodesk undervolted SFFs majority on WIFI. My question is since there is an annual Consensus for BOINC users , why is it never seen in the 'Notices' tab of the software? My guess is because individual projects haven't put it there. I would be annoyed if I got it via every project I signed up for. The developers over at git-hub and the people at Berkley don't have any access to post the message via BOINC. |

Perhaps the same mechanism that posts this; "Notice from BOINC : A new version of BOINC is available (8.0.2). Download " could post the Consensus with some trickery on the BOINC download page. Might be possible for Windows clients. I vaguely remember an option during installation to allow notification of new versions but I don't see an option to enable it if not selected during install. For Linux updates are via the package manager so it wouldn't work there. |

The BOINC CENSUS is NOT RUN NOR ENDORSED BY BERKELEY BOINC. It's run by an independent 3rd party as noted in the forum post Message boards : The Lounge : BOINC Census 2024 and noted in the start of the survey also. The Science Commons Initiative sponsored BOINC Census! |

Thanks I didn't realize it was independant. If Berkeley doesn't use the results of the Consensus because they do not care for majority of participants to be informed then what is the point? Besides learnings for SCI to market BOINC? less than 1000 participants and results biased towards the devoted not casual crunchers since most likely the casual will not know it exists. It doesn't really jive either go all in or don't do it at all to get the most meaningful data. Bio-project WCG/SiDock/Rosetta cruncher whale ~320 Optiplex/Prodesk undervolted SFFs majority on WIFI.
