This has been suggested. We're not going to do it, but the idea merits thought and discussion. |

In reply to David Anderson's message of 10 Sep 2024: This has been suggested. We're not going to do it, but the idea merits thought and discussion. You already said it all in the link you cite. No discussion needed, and the Russian projects should remain listed. |

No discussion needed, and the Russian projects should remain listed. I agree. But, 'cause i consider the russian invasion as a crime, i do not partecipate to these projects. |

In reply to boboviz's message of 24 Sep 2024: I really would know why ? Please explain. considering he didn't reply to you, I would say no. his message is in reply to the first post from DA. which is what the "in response to" function tells you. |

There is definitively nothing to argue here, the article written by David is more than clear (and it's nice he made the effort to explain things so clearly), there is no room for debate (here at least) that will inevitably crash to the ground in flames. if you want to boycott, just do it. |

What about SiDock? I joined in February 2022. In April, I got a short message from someone "17 Apr 2022, 11:25:18 UTC it is a russian project, right ? maybe you think about it." .. I trust the project is fully vetted and you know the scientists that they will share results worldwide. In my profile for the project, I start off with "SLAVA UKRAINE Make love not war" So I suppose there's a positive benefit for me being a top contributor.. If SiDock were to be banned, when World Community Grid has issues, I rely on SiDock for biological WUs as Rosetta normally does not have many so I would have to consider adding Einstein for a time. CPU-only farm no GPUgrid for me. I believe that by supporting this and other Russian distributed computing projects it sends a message that the world can come together for good causes, it's a good thing. Bio-project WCG/SiDock/Rosetta cruncher whale ~320 Optiplex/Prodesk undervolted SFFs majority on WIFI. Chrome remote desktop has a limit of 300 so add another email. /danwat1234 Youtube see my setup on how to create your own inexpensive SFF farm |

This reminds me of a time ago when Russian developers were removed from the Linux kernel developer list. Anyway, I think it really hurts the spirit of open source. It's really an interesting question to think about. I'm inclined to think it's hard to answer or maybe even impossible to answer. Because we have to face a very real and possibly disappointing problem - "science knows no borders, but scientists do". When it comes to politics-related topics, we all inevitably get stuck in our own positions. And the "standpoint" is very interesting, because looking at the same thing from a different standpoint can lead to different or even completely opposite conclusions. I think what Russell said might provide a reference: whether you are studying anything or considering any idea, ask yourself only what the facts are, and what the truth is that these facts confirm. Never allow yourself to be influenced by what you prefer to believe, or what you think people believe would be more beneficial to society. Just look at what is true. |
