I use Microsofts winget packet manager to manage most of my software. Winget has been listing BOINC to have a new version (8.0.0) for some time now. Do you know anything about it and is it recommended to upgrade to that version, yet?

My current version of BOINC: 7.24.1 (x64)

the download page tells me

[ ] boinc_8.0.0_windows_x86_64.exe 2024-03-19 17:13 12M

but the homepage doesn't mention version 8, yet.

BOINC 8.0 is a development or alpha version, with bugs. That's why it doesn't show as the recommended download.
