I installed BOINC 7.23.3 on my Mac-Mini running Sonoma 14.2.1 and BOINC with Einstein@home runs in the background but BOINC is still not a choice in the screensaver tab in system settings

I installed BOINC 7.24.3 on my Mac-Mini running Sonoma 14.2.1 and BOINC with Einstein@home runs in the background but BOINC is still not a choice in the screensaver tab in system settings

Installed BOINC 7.24.3 on Mac-Mini running Sonoma 14.3.1. Was able to select BOIC as screensaver but got "BOIC can't show screensaver graphics on this version of Mac OS" error message. Also, tried BOINC 7.24.3 on MacBook Air with Sonoma 14.2.1 and got the same error message. Is there a fix in the works?

It appear that you already figured out that under MacOS 14 Sonoma in the Screen Saver tab in System Settings, you must scroll down to the Other category click on Show All to see third party screen savers such as BOINC. They certainly don't make it easy to find third party screen savers!

I have been working with Apple Developer Technical Support since October to try to either get Apple to fix what they broke or to help me find a way around the problem. That effort is still ongoing. At this point, I can't say whether ot not we will be able to solve it. If Apple fixes their end, BOINC's screen saver should again start working when Apple releases a MacOS update with the fix. If we find a way to solve it on our side, we'll release an update to BOINC.

I installed BOINC 7.24.4 and running w/Einstein@Home I get the BOINC starting screensaver animation alternative with 2 error messages: 1) Could not connect to screensaver of application Binary Radio Pulsar Search (Arecibo,GBT,long) and 2) Could not connect to screensaver of application Gamma-ray pulsar search #5. However, when I click on the mouse or tap the space bar to wake the computer there is a black screen with the Einstein@Home animation that pops up for a few seconds

The screensaver part in BOINC has been fixed, but for this fix to work for the project's applications, their apps need to add the fix as well. Until that's done, you'll get the effect you see.
Tell Einstein@Home in your case to fix their graphics apps for the science apps.
