Greetings,

I have an old Dell Dimension P4 2.6Ghz 2Gb memory running Debian 12. Its 32 bit and running headless, with gui disabled

I'd like to use it for something worthwhile

I've installed boinc, and configured it for world community grid successfully I believe , but I dont think its getting any tasks as confirmed by

$ boinccmd --get_tasks

======== Tasks ========
jonathan@debian:~$

I wonder if its age and architecture are a factor, and perhaps some other projects are more appropriate for these old timers ?

Happy to work on anything worthwhile

They have the minimium specs for the projects here:

https://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/help/topic.s?shortName=minimumreq

You should be OK for all of them.

You can check on there website if you were assigned some task and if there was error what the errors were.

OK , I also joined Einsteinfoldathome.org and that is doing work, but have left world community grid also in my projects

The supply of tasks from WCG is erratic at the moment.

Thank you Dave. I noticed when I ran
$ boinccmd --get_notices

This message amongst the others. The only way I would receive this message is, presumably by running the boinc client and connecting to their project ?

2: (25-Nov-2023 08:10:05) It looks like you haven't installed the World Community Grid software yet. Download the software, and in a few minutes you could be contributing

I wondered if they don't recognise the 32bit version ?

Anyway, it seems to be doing work for Einsteinathome.org, which is fine. I have left the WCG project in my list, so when this current project is complete, perhaps it will have more luck
