Can anyone give me a reason why a project task should cause the client to crash? The app in question was a CPDN testing one and it threw up windows with a fortran runtime error as well. According to the manager task never actually started and there was a message in the log saying, "unable to get client state" After a minute or so, the client would crash and the message about the client exiting 5 times, would I like to start it would appear. WCG tasks ran fine.

This was the latest Windows client installed under WINE. The task had previously crashed after 45 seconds on a Windows machine.

Not looking for a solution but rather an idea of what happens between the client and the science app that might cause this.

To me this sounds more like a CPDN error than a Boinc error. Perhaps you should ask them?

I did ask but so far no answer 😕
