Lol! Just received the following automated message (quote below) from WCG servers on a desktop PC. Would be nice to get some work and get my 2 Android phone back to the project venues they belong in and eliminate the dozen of them falsely listed in my WCG account page. World Community Grid: We miss you! |

It will be interesting to see how long it takes for the Powers to decide that Testing is done and to turn Stat's and Credit back on. Bill F |

In reply to Hans Sveen's message of 28 Oct 2025: Hi!Yeah, I got 14 of them 1 1/2 hours ago. No more since then though. Maybe this was just a test of ordinary MCM1 tasks. |

October 28, 2025 We have fixed the main validation throughput issues with the new Kafka-based workflow, and reprocessed uploads from around the time we started sending out test batches. We are reviewing the Kafka topics and BOINC database to see if the volunteer reports of both results for a test workunit uploaded but no validation/assimilation occured during the reprocess is another bug to fix, and if so is it severe enough to block regular MCM1_024% batch distribution until resolved. In reviewing the transitioner implementation (which we intended to start yesterday to begin triggering resends for test batches), we found the new paradigm for storing configuration details that are required to populate resends in the result table needed to be incorporated into key functions. We are testing these relatively minor changes to the transitioner now. Our plan is to deploy the updated transitioner, verify resends work, verify it times out expired workunits, and depending on how that and the review of "missed validations" noted above goes we may then be ready to resume MCM1 batches in the normal range. Regarding uploads that span the downtime for migration, we will reconcile validation and credit for these workunits as soon as the production path for MCM1 described above is running. We should be able to use the new components to do that, after walking the filesystems where those uploads live, double-checking the list that need validation and crediting in the database, and pursuing a similar "reprocessing" path which worked well to re-attempt validation and crediting of the test MCM1 batches. Then, we will begin testing beta30/MAM1, and ARP1 using the new system, which we expect to progress much faster now that we have ironed out the logic with MCM1. tats updates will be restarted as soon as the MCM1 workflow is stable, that will include the daily export to https://download.worldcommunitygrid.org/boinc/stats/ Paul. |

So that message from the tech team probably means another week of wait and see what breaks and needs fixing this time around. |

Hello PMH. Thanks for your posting. To me, it sounds like WU generation has restarted and WU sent to volunteers. They 'test" them by searching for two pending results - replicates that have not been processed to the VALID state.(showing a processing bug.) Is this correct? if so, I have a couple of WU pending with completion by myself and another machine - both still in pending status. Perhaps this is now normal and I/we simply have to wait a time for processing. I this the case?? Also. at 4:30 EDT i received on WU and started to crunch it. I was only 12.5% active, so I asked for more. I would like to share: Tue 28 Oct 2025 04:37:48 PM EDT | World Community Grid | update requested by user Tue 28 Oct 2025 04:37:51 PM EDT | World Community Grid | Sending scheduler request: Requested by user. ( I have done design, code, test, and customer acceptance testing in my past.) It would be helpful if the Kremsil/Jurisca team could be more explicit in letting me/us know how to test. Again, thank you for the production status update. Jay |

Full cache now with regular (non-test) MCM1 tasks. A bit high time estimation, but after 10 (I think it was) validated tasks, BOINC will adjust the estimated time, to more reasonable value. |

A couple of observations: The server part of BOINC maintains a very small cache of tasks to send out, this is topped up on a timer, thus it is possible to call for work when that cache is empty, and so get no work even when there are tasks in the main cache. This is very much a "design feature". Seeing a break in communications as you show in your example my be caused by any number of things, connection sequencing, "the internet", a real problem - each of which will require different solutions and indeed my not be resolvable for a particular project due to hardware and/or budget limitations. There is of course outstanding issues with validator and assimilator processors, these are taking time to resolve (and cause much heartache to some users who have a large pile of tasks awaiting validation, and to the servers where validated work is not being assimilated into the main database in a timely manner. |

The upload errors for some tasks are a known issue and reported to the WCG team. See the following part of the WCG forum thread and forward, beginning with the first post that reported the issue. https://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/forums/wcg/viewthread_thread,47541_offset,280#706987 |

I just received a reply from Igor. He is contacting Dylan now. We already know that the WCG team have on standby even on weekends, during this migration, so Dylan will probably look into the problem pretty quick. |

Thank them for me. Now if I could just see the results shown at stats.free-dc.org things would be great. Well more tasks from some of the other projects I process for would be nice too. |

I just asked that question to Skillz. The WCG files are not being updated yet https://download.worldcommunitygrid.org/boinc/stats/ |
