What a freaking mess this outrageous upgrade has done for my device list at WCG.

* I have over 3 dozen different "new computers' all from my 2 Android devices that I had upgraded the BOINC software while the project was down.

Looking over my logs it appears they get s NEW Device ID each time they connect to the project..

Can't find the merge button/link on my Device management page nor anywhere else on the website.

You’re right, duplicate entries with no merge button and obviously incorrect data (like a B550-Pro that joined years before that chipset existed).

No duplicate entries in my Device List.

When it comes to the merge function, it has never existed on WCG.

Latest is I am not getting any error messages but
project has no tasks available.

I suspect it is lying when it says
Thu 09 Oct 2025 11:20:45 AM BST | World Community Grid | Tasks for NVIDIA GPU are available, but your preferences are set to not accept them

but not having an Nvidia GPU it is a moot point.

It's a 4:35 in the afternoon in Toronto and probably quitting time at 5 PM for the limited tech support they have and things are still broken with no new news from Jurisica/Krembil.

The "new discourse forums" are still dead with
"503 Service Unavailable
No server is available to handle this request."
Message.
I have set all my devices/computers to no new tasks at WCG to prevent any further corruption to my device list.

Edit to add looks like the official forums are broken again...

Looks like it is working, but no tasks available...

BTW: I do not have any of those GPUs, and I would not allow them if I did.

I get the one about no tasks for Nvidia GPU. I am far from convinced these tasks exist.

Maybe if we're lucky we get a treat instead of a trick for Halloween and they finally get it working by then.

Nothing yet, but even though it's Friday, and well past normal working hours in Toronto, something may very well happen during the weekend anyhow. The team, and particularly Dylan the tech, has been working on the system during the days, as well as late nights, and even weekends for weeks now.

Don't give up people. They will first send out some test batches, to make sure that things are working as they should.

I don't share your optimism, unless you mean Halloween 2026.

Well, this is obviously going to take time, so I will change my auto-update of BOINC to 3600 seconds for WCG.

I was thinking 3600hours might be more appropriate.
