Hello,

only 13 of the 30 projects in the newest version of the Boinc Manager (7.16.11) are available to add. All others bring errors like temporary not available or wrong URL etc.
Is this a country or region restriction, or firewall problem, or are 17 projects really not available (anymore)? Why are they then in the list? I am searching for a climate project :-(

Working projects are: Amicable Numbers, Asteroids, Cosmology, Einstein, Gerasim, LHC, Milkyway, NFS, NumberFields, PrimeGrid, Radioactive, Rosetta, WCG

Thanks for Info

That is an old/outdated version of BOINC.
Here's a link to the official download page https://boinc.berkeley.edu/download_all.php where you can download and install the latest version.

You also don't indicate what operating system you are using. Are you running Windows, Linux (Ubuntu, etc), Apple (OSX, etc), Android?

Currently the only dedicated "climate project" is Climate Prediction Net (CPDN) and most tasks requires Virtual Box with lots of memory (RAM) and storage (Disk drive) space to run.

World Community Grid (WCG) once they fix the server problems has a "Climate Sub-project" named Africa Rainfall Project. Work for that is very intermittent.

Virtual Box not required if you have Linux. Also WSL will let you run the Linux tasks but currently the project is out of work. I have Windows testing branch tasks running but they will be going for over a month till completion after which there may be a batch of work for Windows machines. The Linux tasks require minimum of 5GB RAM/task and are not great for anyone with a slow bored band connection like mine. - I have to limit myself to a maximum of two concurrent tasks otherwise data is produced faster than I can upload it.
