I'm trying to connect to another BOINC client on the LAN, and the GUI does absolutely nothing. I go to Select computer, type hostname, click OK, and nothing happens. In one of my tries statusbar changed to "Disconnected" but a second later it went back to "Connected to localhost". I later tried with boinccmd, and it gives Authorization failure: -155. I have no password set on that host, remote_hosts.cfg is allowing this IP. I tried setting a password and restarting the core client, boinccmd now works after setting password (--passwd), but BOINC Manager still doesn't connect. The remote client has an earlier version, 5.8.0 if I remember correctly. Maybe there is something incompatible? It worked fine with 5.8.3 manager. |

Just wanted to say I have the same problem on Linux. It's fixed in 5.8.5 and new pref screens were added: But don't use the advanced preferences test in 5.8.5 as it will 99% sure crash your system. |

I'm not seeing this test - could be my glasses... Boinc Manager, Advanced menu, Preferences... How do ya tell if EDF is in play besides guessing? 5.8 doesn't have EDF anymore. The new work scheduler and work fetch policy should keep you from going into EDF at any time. Read about them here. |

I'm not seeing this test - could be my glasses... Ok, guessing they meant don't test Preferences? Preferences appear to be working here w/no crashing. How do ya tell if EDF is in play besides guessing? Thx. It may not be EDF but it sure looks like it... |
