I just upgraded to BOINC 5.2.5 and tried to create an account for the BOINC message boards using "Attach to project" in the BOINC Manager per the following instructions on the "Create an account" page: "NOTE: starting with BOINC version 5.2, you don't need to use this form. You can create an account directly from BOINC. Just run BOINC, select Attach Project, and enter an email address and password." Needless to say, it didn't work and I created my account using the web form. My point is, if you're going to post instructions, make sure they work in the first place. |

The thing is, BOINC is no project for crunching. BOINC itself does not crunch anything, which ought to be widely known. And if not, you'll start on the front page, where it will be explained to you. |

Well it's hardly intuitive is it. I had exactly the same experience as Heather. I agree that BOINC isn't a project, so why say that you can use "attach to project" in the first place? Confusing to say the least. Of course with the benefit of lateral thinking, you could browse the posts in this forum, when you would realise that nobody has any credit allocated to them! Two other things. First, BOINC and SETI are the same people, so why can't they have a look to see if you have a SETI account with the same email address, and if so, let you use that? Second, I was a bit worried that if I created an account with the same email address and nickname as an existing SETI one, it might just decide to throw away the SETI one - together with all my credits.
