Thankyou for the work in releasing ongoing improvements.

Some feedback on this release, in the installation where it discusses the Service Install, it says:

"Run project applications under an unprivileged account. This provides increased protection from faulty applications, and on Windows, it will prevent the use of applications that use graphics chips (GPUs) (A reboot may be required).

There's a fullstop missing after GPUs.

Also, it's not clear whether on Windows, whether it provides increased protection from faulty applications. I had to read this a few times to understand. Perhaps it should be an end of sentence after applications. Remove the word 'and', and then the word 'on' be the start of the next sentence.

Cheers

I see the release notes for 7.20.2, but when I go to the downloads page it shows 7.14.2. If I download the file anyway the popup tool tips also refer to 7.14.2. How do I get the latest version?

7.14.2 is for 32bit Windows. The present BOINC versions are for 64bit Windows only.
The download page at https://boinc.berkeley.edu/download.php recognizes your operating system and shows you the correct version for that OS. So it would seem your Windows is 32bit only.

#BOINC 7.20.2 is recommended to install by @BoincUc. #Windows and #OSX users can download it from the official web site: #Linux users can install it from the PPA: No #Android release this time. Release notes:

Hi Jord,

Thanks for your comments. My Windows is 64bit, and the 7.14.2 reference persisted even after multiple cache clearings and restarts, but I've been able to get and install 7.20.2 since. Hope it stays fixed for the next release!

Cheers,

Ardis

In the many years I participate in Boinc projects, I always updated to newer versions successfully. Up to now. During the installation process, I get an error message:
The feature you are trying to use is on a network resource that is unavailable.
The "Use source:" field below it references the folder "C:\WINDOWS\Downloaded Installations\{B44F69CD-B0DE-4FAA-A80B-83C287335499}\" can be opened with the Windows Explorer, so it actually exists, although only partly. The last folder with the curly brackets is not present. And when I create it manually it is not used when I start the setup for a second time.
If I cancel the installer, it suggests there have been no changes to my system, but in reality also the old version was partly(?) deleted.
Instructions for the following error 1706 suggest I should reinstall the previous version. But that one now emits the same error messages.
So I am stuck and cannot contribute any more...

Any hints for what I can try any further? Thanks in advance.

Two options:

1. Download the previous BOINC installer and do a repair installation over itself, making sure you install BOINC from a source that is available.
2. Go to https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/topic/fix-problems-that-block-programs-from-being-installed-or-removed-cca7d1b6-65a9-3d98-426b-e9f927e1eb4d, download the troubleshooter, run it and from the Uninstall list remove BOINC. Afterwards install BOINC with the new installer.

Hi

impossible to use it on my iMac 27p intel late 2020 : all network communications are failing, with any project + boinc main + project manager (SAM).

I downgrade to 7.16.21 : running again
Upgrade again to 7.20.2 : same issue
Reboot, upgrade macOS to 12.5.1 (I had 12.3.x I think, the upgrade was pending), no luck.

I use security software Intego, I deactivated NetBarrier to test, made sure boinc is enabled, etc, no luck.

I have to use 7.16.21...

(first time this happens with all previous boinc updates I've done)

Any idea ?

The fault was Intego software but not NetBarrier, it was ContentBarrier against BoincMaster and/or BoincProject users.

It's working now :)

Thanks for the help. But these were not the solution. A few days ago I discovered the real reason: lack of disk space. It's a pity the installer does not check and warn though.
