When you attach to a project as a new user, the dialog says "Enter the email address and password you used on the website." it should only say this when you already have an account. Since you can sign up through the manager you never have to visit the website anyway, so they should both be changed.

I'm getting a lot of help requests of people who don't know what to do here, and when you have signed up through the website, you should check "Yes, existing user" anyway.
