I looked, and looked, but maybe I missed it somewhere. I know that there are client side apps that can support many different platforms, but am I mistaken that the server software is Linux only? From looking at some projects that show server hardware, it seems that it's all Linux/Unix that it's running under. I'm curious, as I'm planning on downloading the source and running BOINC locally here on a few PCs so I can figure out the inner workings, and if one needs to be Linux, I have to install it. (I'm basically an old school hacker, so I like to poke around, and see how things work.) I'm not a cracker, or cheater. :-P AdvTHANKSance |

Yes they definitely are. There was once a still unfinished tutorial on how to get it working on Windows (was a MUCH bigger mess, needed cygwin to emulate Unix), but it was abandoned long ago. I think it was on the Wiki. EDIT: by the way, it needs more than decent Linux knowledge too... |

BOINC could be compiled and running on the most Unixes. So far I know uses SETI Solaris for the BOINC serves. Also, I have successfull running a BOINC server at HP-UX. |
