Thanks for nothing people. I run a Dell PC with windows 10 and a Nvidia GPU. I have repeatably asked for help to resolve the credit certificate issue in a way that none computer geniuses can understand! I have yet to get a reply. I very much enjoy donating my personal, electricity, and computer time to Boinc, but I hate wasting it. I also get a kick out of scoring as many work units as I can. I am not looking to make money or anything else only but my enjoyment. Because of these issues, I have stopped processing Collatz Conjecture and will not come back until this issue is resolved one way or another. As a result of this, I now will make one final request for help in finding a good Boinc project that will generate decent credits with my Dell PC with windows 10 and Nvidia GPU. Or perhaps I should just stop processing Boinc projects all together!

Richard Haselgrove posted a link to a file on google drive that can fix the problem
https://boinc.berkeley.edu/forum_thread.php?id=14413&postid=105552#105552

put that file "ca-bundle.crt" at

\Program Files\Boinc
or at
"Program Files (x86)\Boinc\

depending on what windows you are running, or where you put the executable. You need to be in elevated mode to be able to replace the old, bad file.

Collatz is a waste of computer time, project good only for points,. IMHO

I got a suggestion to download Boinc 7.16.20 from Softpedia (I am currently running Boinc 7.16.11) to fix my issue. I don,t see this version on this Boinc sight. Is this safe to do?

That is not an official BOINC release. It probably is somebody's attempt at compiling the code themselves. IOW, you don't know where it's been.

I recommend getting the corrected file from Dr. Anderson's post and replacing the bad file.
Or take your chances with the Softpedia link.
I don't see any mention of the ca-bundle.crt file update in the changelog.

There is now an officially prepared v7.16.20 of BOINC, for Windows only. It's still undergoing testing, but it's been confirmed that it solves the certificate problem, and no other problems have been reported so far.

Using that would be safer than taking one from a third-party source. Download from:

Thanks for the post clearing this up Richard. I didn't see it on the official BOINC download page. But I guess being in testing explains why it hasn't been posted officially.
Strange that is hasn't been put in the normal location and marked beta as usual for new releases.

Don't get it from Softpedia, its size is wrong. Most likely not an official upload there.
