For reasons I won't bore you with, I need to delete and or remove several jobs that I will not be able to complete.

I tried the abort button but the jobs remained stedfastely in place now showing aborted by user. I need to completely remove these jobs and get them out of the way permanently. I tried connecting to the project after aborting the jobs but they just won't seem to budge.

Where in the heck is the delete button?

Thanks,

At first the WU must have a 100,000% progress status, then you can report back to the project server, you can click the reset project button too.

What I'm needing to delete are several jobs that have not even been started. I know I could detach from the project but at some time in the future I may very well use it again.

I other words, I have 15 or 20 jobs for a project that I don't entend to use over the next several weeks and would just like to have them "out of the way" so to speak. Right now they are just listed as aborted my user, and if I wait until they eventually reach the "top of the list" so to speak, they will be removed by simply connecting to the project. I suppose I need a way to move them to the top of the list at which time they can be deleted.

Hello,
after clicking abort in the tasks tab, the WUs are still in the list and marked with abort. Because the abort will be reported to the project server, so the server can reassign theses WUs.
To disappear you must select the corresponding project in the project tab and click update. With this the aborted WUs will be reported to the project and hopefully disapear in your BOINC manager.

This worked for me in BOINC 5.8.1.

The first question is if you get so many jobs that you not wanted or cant finish in time set your cache to a lower value (0.1)? You cant move files up or down, all depending on deadline, run time etc, the only one way is to suspend other projects.

And for me in v5.4.9. One more thing, Ford Prefect, make sure the aborted tasks aren't also suspended, and that the project isn't suspended. That prevents things from moving any further. In the Tasks pane, if you select an aborted task and the second button says Resume, click it. Likewise for the project in the Projects pane; to make sure it doesn't try and download more work, click No new tasks before clicking Resume.
