There is a problem with their database. Others have the same problem according to posts in the projects section of the noticeboard. In the absence of someone from the project who knows more posting, there is probably not much you can do other than wait.

A messsage in my event log says the project is temkporarily down for maintenance.

I thought they got new gear after the previous most recent months-long outage?

Yep!
According to a new post on Asteroid@home's homepage, the project is down and will remain down until September / October, dependent upon when their new server arrives.

So do you think Asteoids@Home will really be back in September/October or will it just whither away from neglect and lack of support from the host university?

I thought asteroids was an excellent project. If the principal investigator had written up a proposal to work with the near earth orbit program maybe he or she could have gotten a NASA or other type of grant. Just a guess. I was sorry to see SETI go. I would rather have seen SETI get a "hit" than asteroids-at-home get a "hit". That being said, the asteroid hit is much more likely than finding an Alien IMHO.

We are slightly past the estimate on when Astroids@home would be restarting... With the site down there is no way to PM anyone. I wonder if anyone in the BOINC Community here on the Forums has a contact line to reach out on for any sort of update ?
