I plan on running boinc on a system that could be without internet for months at at time. Are there any projects that has really long deadlines that might accommodate this?

Thanks!

Climate Prediction Network (CPN) - normal deadline is about a year and each task can take days or weeks to run

If a hadsm4 task the last batch was dodgy and has now been withdrawn. If HADAM4 you need to check you have installed the required 32bit libraries. There is a post in the Linux section of the CPDN boards that covers most distributions. (actually both require the 32bit libraries but the former have a dodgy time stamp on start up files so wouldn't have worked even with the 32 bit libs installed.

I'd really recommend to add an LTE hotspot to your phone line, which can act as a wireless router for your system.
Hotspot data plans are very cheap nowadays, you can either have a $15-30 monthly data plan (Straight Talk Wireless, Verizon, NetZero, Republic Wireless, MetroPCS, ...) depending on your data needs, or a $8/day roaming access from services like 'Roaming Man', or more (see link below).

There's even a service that offers 1GB for a mere $10 a month (Skyroam Solis). I think there are plenty of projects that have very small size WUs.
For projects like WWG, GPU Grid, etc, WUs can often exceed several hundreds of Megabytes.

More info Here.

Quite often an old phone or wireless hotspot devices can be turned on and off on specific times of the day/week, to minimize the risk of overshooting your monthly network data limit cap, or hackers access (if that's a problem).

You can also pre-load your PC with WUs before going offline, and control it remotely (via SSH if you're still on the same wifi intranet network).

Please read in the CPDN forums. You need to install certain packages for i386 architecture to compute those workunits ;)
