After more than a year of trouble-free operation, BOINC mangager is suddenly not loading correctly about half the time, and no longer runs in the system tray at all. If it fails to start (becomes non-responding), I must reboot the computer and try again. If I can get it to run, I must leave it in the active taskbar for it to keep working. I recently installed Norton Internet Security and upgraded to Win media player 11. The problems appeared after this. Thanks for your help. Chris Christopher Pikula Waltham, MA USA |

Just a thought (and take it for what it's worth since I don't use Norton). Might you need to open the ports BOINC uses for communications in Norton's firewall? BOINC.exe needs 31416 and 80 and 443 opened BOINCmgr.exe needs 31416 opened BOINC.scr needs 31416 opened Kathryn :o) |

Christoper, if you haven't already, try upgrading to BOINC 5.4.11 which has a fix for this problem. |

Thanks for your help. I don't know how to do ports, but I did the upgrade and that fixed it. Chris Christopher Pikula Waltham, MA USA |
