I want to delay the start of the BOINC service but cannot find it on the Services app on Windows 10. What is it called? I see it listed in task manager Startup (though I cannot edit for delayed startup there! |

I assume you already tried BOINC's <start_delay>0.000000</start_delay> setting in the cc_config.xml and it was not sufficient to delay the start of BOINC for what you need. |

If you didn't install BOINC as a service, it's not in the services applet. It then starts from the registry. To delay start BOINC, you can either use the option Keith points out (this delays the starting of the science applications under BOINC, not BOINC itself), or set up your own BOINC start delay in Task Scheduler. You then point to boincmgr.exe in C:\Program Files\BOINC (which starts BOINC Manager, which in turn starts the BOINC client) |

<start_delay> doesn't delay BOINC itself - BOINC itself starts immediately, but that option delays the start of the science applications after BOINC is running. I think the service is simply called BOINC. Win 10 has the "Automatic (delayed start)" service launch option from Win 7, but I don't think you have much control over the delay. I have a machine I can test that on if you need help. |
