Linux Mint 20 on an Asus CM5571 6GB ram nVidia GF8400 2GB 128-SSDrive Boinc-client and boinc-manager both v 7.16.15 Recently Boinc will not stop running no matter the settings in computing preferences. Run based on preferences. It will stop on Suspend in activity. Like no other box I have that have not issues of this. All running Win10 or Linux Mint 19.. Seems to be only on this machine and on Linux 20 not LM 19 or windows. Any thoughs to check? With regards to Linux, I understand from the another thread that this is down to how BOINC detects activity (mouse or KB.) Doesn't work on my Xubuntu20.10 boxes but does with some distributions. I don't know if it has been reported as an issue on git-hub where the developers lurk. |

Big long gigantico one at https://github.com/BOINC/boinc/issues/3715Ah yes, I remember now. I have just had a read through it. I will keep an eye on it and at some point get a more recent master and build and check. - The only time I have used the feature is to test to see if it works or not. |

tl;dr Problem 1: BOINC won't start (permanently 'in use') - bug in versions 7.16.5/6/7. Avoid those versions. Problem 2: BOINC won't stop (doesn't react to mouse/keyboard use) - BOINC can't read the X-server names. Needs a Linux guru. |

@Keithsplace I'm running Mint 18.3 When I run top in a terminal, near the start of the list is: Xorg boinc boincmgr Do you have those in Mint 20? |

Problem 2: BOINC won't stop (doesn't react to mouse/keyboard use) - BOINC can't read the X-server names. Needs a Linux guru. We've found our Linux guru! Simple bug in creating the systemd file. Gianfranco's PPA has a new test version out - it works. Other users can add it from terminal. Run sudo systemctl edit boinc-client.serviceand add these two lines into the empty override file which appears [Service] PrivateTmp=falseThen reload and restart the service. |
