Hello,
I created a skin for our team for BOINC manager 5.8. Doing this I encountered following problems/quetions:

1) In the advanced view - Help - first entry starts http://www.rechenkraft.net/manager_links.php?target=advanced . Is it possible to configure this URL in skin.xml? i can only configure the domain.

2) If I click with the right mous button on the icon in the taskbar (windows) and select the first entry the page bam.boincstats.com is loaded. Is this URL configurable?

3) My skin on windows looks good, but on Mac the pictures seems not to fit. See in the middle above "Graphics Available".
Mac: Windows:

4) Would be also nice to be able to change the font color in skin.xml (for elapsed time, time remaining, application name,...).

Hello,
I created a skin for our team for BOINC manager 5.8. Doing this I encountered following problems/quetions:

1) In the advanced view - Help - first entry starts http://www.rechenkraft.net/manager_links.php?target=advanced . Is it possible to configure this URL in skin.xml? i can only configure the domain.

The URL is triggered by this section:
<!-- name displayed in about box -->
<company_name>Rechenkraft.net e.V.</company_name>
<!-- web site displsyed in about box -->
<company_website>http://www.Rechenkraft.net</company_website>

Default is the Boinc-site, but when you use an URL here, like yours, it will search for the manager.php on your site.
More info about this can be found here

2) If I click with the right mous button on the icon in the taskbar (windows) and select the first entry the page bam.boincstats.com is loaded. Is this URL configurable?

Are you attached to BAM...?

There is something wrong with these files:
-background_image
-project_area_background_image
-dialog_background_image
-workunit_area_background_image

If the format is ".jpg" such as documented in Creating Skins the Manager shows only standard, with ".png" no problem.

Just tested it with one of my skins... and you're correct.

I reportet the bug (wrong link or wrong linkname in BOINCs system icon) for a while in the BOINC_DEV list allso, but without any resonanze...
I asked allso how to change the color of the letters.

But the developer must do a very strong job, so they could'nt beleve that skin creators don't know how to implant new features in a xml file...

I would also like to see the color of text be programable. Other wise the shin creator must use backgrounds that make the text standout, instead of something that has to do with the theme of the skin.

I like the idea of the new GUI skins. Have created one using pictures of my orchids. Have also created some project_images for some of the projects that do not have them at this time. Some are very bland and am still working on them as time permits.

Just uploaded this one...

... and named it "Hardware".

While testing (Win-Vista RC2) I also found that that the image for the "attach to.." section was not loaded under the english option.
Did the same testing on the other skins I've created and all failed.
While running the manager under the "dutch" option, all skins show the earlier mentioned image.

Maybe this is something for the dev's to look at.

Prior to this I also tried making a xml with 3 language options.
(dutch, german and english)
First 2 were loaded, the third option ended up in loading the default images.
(already reported in boinc-loc).

But let's not forget...
The Simple Gui is in "alpha-stage" and things will be altered in the future.

Hey Rene, seeing that it can do transperancy, can the BSG also do without a background picture and only do transparency?

Alas it can't...

It may look like it is, but that's just a "trick".
Images are loaded upon each other and when using the same section from the image underneath, you will get a "transparency" look.

Some creators use the stencils (see Boinc frontpage) and I also use Paint-shop-pro, The Gimp and SwishMax.

Yes, unfortunately its a lego system, you can also put two white squares in the background picture to save some kb ;)
