If that percentage of people are unthinking enough to drive too fast, then it's quite reasonable enough to say those same people don't apply their few brain cells into thinking about the rights of all other people.
No, it's quite reasonable to think if there is a large quantity of people wanting X, then X should be legal.
So it would be ok for a driver to run you down because that driver thinks it is acceptable to drive faster than the speed you think is acceptable.
You also have to take into consideration that children are very bad at judging car speeds and that there are many people who need longer times to cross the road.

And because of that governments are forced, usually by the public screaming "Why isn't there a law against this"
By a small vociferous minority.
If it happens enough times, it will not be a minority decision.

to bring in laws to restrict the unthinking. As in the just introduced speed limiting measures on new cars. You don't obey the speed limit sign you just saw, then your car will resist your right foot. Unless you turn it off every time the vehicle is restarted.
Or any other simple measures to remove the authoritarian control. My car, I'll go the speed I want. Always have, always will.

Who says there are 'simple measures'
How many speeding fines do you have? And if the answer is 'nil' then the technology will not affect you, except where there are badly situated and orientated speed limit signs, that the car think apply to the road you are on.

As per normal, PH is disagreeing with everything, and everyone, just for the sake of disagreeing, and hijacking the thread with useless text about disagreeing with everyone about everything.
But of course, he is a self confessed anarchist, so......
Have fun folks, this will go on until the inevitable happens again......

Funny you all taking about speeding, fines, tickets, etc this article was included in one of my weekly "interesting things to read...".
Car brands linked to the most speeding tickets in 2022
Even with the knowledge of how reckless speeding can be, roughly one out of 10 drivers have received a speeding ticket in 2022, according to Insurify.

Why do most people speed?
Those prone to fast driving report an impatience with traffic and an urgency to arrive at their destination as top reasons for the behavior. Speeding is also considered a bad habit that’s reinforced by popular culture as well as individual drivers who have historically gotten away with repeated fast-driving incidents

Peter is talking fantastical nonsense in this thread,

+1

and he might want to prepare for a knock on the door, or perhaps the door just being breached.

Lots of incriminating evidence in his postings on this message board.

Too bad it can't be recorded on video for all to see.

But the driver can see them.
If you believe that, you need to go back to driving school. Bad observation is at the moment the #1 cause of accidents.
THREE MILLION speeding offences a year.
I'm surprised there are not more, considering how many drivers there are (50 million driving licenses) and how many of them do speed significantly over the limit.

A simple device like that isn't going to outsmart me.
Tell us then in your infinite wisdom, how simple the device is.

I wasn't really interested in how many speeding fines you have received and you should have realised that from my follow-on. Bu how have you got so many and still have a driving licence.
And if you think speed has nothing to do with accidents, then you need to read, https://www.autoexpress.co.uk/news/358022/speeding-be-recorded-cause-many-more-car-accidents
In future, instead of reporting causes from the scene of an accident, police forces are being told to adjust their reports to include all the analysis from post-accident investigations, which may often include forensic evidence of speeding.

Under the new reporting scheme the Metropolitan Police force found speeding should have been included as a contributory factor in almost half of all traffic accidents. In a review it revised its 2020 figure from 19.1 to 46.8 per cent, including cases where the driver exceeded the limit or simply drove too fast for the conditions, the Times has reported.

Greater Manchester Police carried out a similar review, and raised the incidence of speeding in its accident figures from 15 to 65 per cent.

I don't understand the last question, because I didn't.
I equated it to how the technology will affect your driving style.

I wonder if it includes those who do a speed awareness course to avoid getting points on their license?

Insurance companies & police love dash cams.
There have been several cases here in the UK where dash cam footage was uploaded to police.
Motorcyclist & motorist were very surprised to find themselves prosecuted for speeding.
The best dash cam footage I've seen was an American one.
A road rage idiot in a car got peeved with a trucker & played "road games" with the truck for several miles until eventually idiot car got too close.
Fool got into the truckers stopping distance & brake checked.
Dash cam recorded it all. :-)
Speeders get away with it until the day comes when they're least expecting it & at the wrong time in their life, they get caught.
Personally, I was rofpmsl & thought that trucker was a lucky B - he got to do what many of us wanted to do for years. :-)
Sadly in today's society, there are too many who don't give a crap for other road users, just themselves.
