My concern is not science projects, my concern is state actors corrupting science projects [possibly with a real gun to the head of a scientist] and turning all the attached computers into a cyber warfare network. DA never built in a kill switch and no one is required to vet the science code before it uploads. This is a policy error and well could be a legal liability for DA and Berkeley.
