If it's anything like left wing Reddit I'll get banned again.

If I used the words on my mind this morning, I would get banned or at least have a post deleted.

I'm wondering what effect the Russian invasion of Ukraine will have on support for Russia based BOINC projects.
Wave upon wave of demented avengers march cheerfully out of obscurity into the dream.

Looking at the quick rise of energy prices, you wouldn't care because before that time you can't run any BOINC projects anymore unless you're rich and invested in gold and silver - all cryptos are in free fall.

Glad I increased solar on roof last year by 3.4KW, just wishing we had squeezed another couple of panels in now.

DA or whoever runs BOINC nowadays, should just de-list all Russia based projects from BOINC. Russia is a pariah state, so why support
any Russia based projects whatsoever.

My concern is not science projects, my concern is state actors corrupting science projects [possibly with a real gun to the head of a scientist] and turning all the attached computers into a cyber warfare network.

DA never built in a kill switch and no one is required to vet the science code before it uploads. This is a policy error and well could be a legal liability for DA and Berkeley. To a jury, if the damages are large enough, a paper CYA may not exist.

Ouch, and I thought our prices were high...
Local supermarket this morning (almost right in the middle of England):
Unleaded = £1.46
Diesel = £1.48
(per litre)
xe.com gives £1.00 = 1.19Euro, or $1.34

And the Yanks are screaming bloody murder over their comparably very low prices. :-)

Yup.

But they are used to prices being much lower, and their cars are so much more thirsty than ours in Europe, and they do tend to drive everywhere and everywhere is further away...

And I am old enough to remember buying petrol at about £0.75-£0.80 for a gallon! (About 5 litres.)

It's not funny anymore. Putin's just put his nuclear forces on high alert. Can someone stop that fool, please, before he presses the button?

I wouldn't trust Putin or Biden, they both are not mentally fit to run their countries.

The stopper that held Putin's sanity in has obviously failed and his sanity has run away into a safe hiding place :-(

Great.
Ukraine belongs in EU, Commission chief von der Leyen says
‘They are one of us and we want them in,’ European Commission president says.

Uh... no we don't. Stop pulling us into this war, woman.
