The BBC version of the ClimatePrediction experiment is now closed to new participants:

http://www.bbc.co.uk/sn/hottopics/climatechange/moreaboutexperiment.shtm

If prospective new ClimatePrediction members follow the links there to the big green download button, they will find that it now downloads the standard version of Boinc (from the Boinc team in Berkeley CA) rather than the special BBC version.

They will then need to attach to the project using Tools / Attach to Project, and enter http://climateprediction.net as the project URL.

See http://climateapps2.oucs.ox.ac.uk/cpdnboinc/index.php for more information on attaching to the project (follow the 'download' link).

Downloading the standard version of Boinc and attaching to climateprediction.net (the 'parent' project) is a good thing as it means that new members won't need to migrate from one project to the other later on.

Members who already have the BBC/CCE version of boinc installed will, when their current model finishes, still receive a new BBC model for the time being.

Could current and prospective members please post discussion and queries about the migration in this thread.

Just a reminder that the News and Announcements section of the ClimatePrediction php forum is the best place to see essential announcements for cpdn members in a single thread:

http://www.climateprediction.net/board/viewforum.php?f=36

as well as the 4 README compilations which remain an essential source of information.

The BBC website also says

http://www.bbc.co.uk/sn/hottopics/climatechange/moreaboutexperiment.shtml

It would help spread the news about how the migration is progressing if members who post on team forums with ClimatePrediction crunchers could please copy my top post there.
