In reply to Grant (SSSF)'s message of 19 Jun 2026: In reply to Gary Charpentier's message of 18 Jun 2026: It isn't out yet, they had to call the helicopters back to drop more water on the building. |

They are ripping the side off the building now. This will still be burning for a couple more days. Cardboard boxes on wood pallets full of fat flesh will burn for a long time. They you get the biologic hazard to clean up. I was recently reading some history of the cleanup necessary of the hulls of the ships after Pearl Harbor as they were brought back into operation. Very hard messy work cleaning the ships stores. |

Downwind people will find a lot of glass shards from those solar panels. Also quite hazardous. |

Well Los Angeles being in a basin, it has filled up, just like it did in the 50's and 60's before the pollution controls. First time in decades I couldn't see the mountains (3/4 mile) from my abode this morning. Teaches the newcomers just what is used to be like and why we pay more for clean gasoline in California. Now I hope they can get wet stuff on the red stuff and put that damn thing out! |

Well, first the instant news, we are getting some summer showers. Hope they build up enough to wash the smoke out. Now for the bad news, similar fire in another state a couple years ago took 8 weeks to put out. |

Surprised to find out link on reminder to get gas boiler serviced was legit. Found out by phoning the engineer via number already on my phone as email came from a certificate app that he uses to remind people when it is due rather than his own email. I might have trusted it had it come from his email. |

This Omega Blockade must go somewhere when it leaves here this weekend, so it'll probably go eastwards. Then it's just waiting if it goes north or south. ;-) |

Warning for the motoring Brits. Your fining system changes now. Automatic Phone and Seatbelt detection. Average Speed Control. Dynamic Speed Control. Best watch this video that explains it in more detail: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PGlwntAJUSo Being on the road is going to be quite expensive. |

Being on the road is going to be quite expensive. Not if I stick to the limits it won't. My car not being the most modern, I have to set the limiter to the speed limit which the car and google maps can detect. (The car picks up signs for temporary limits when maps only knows the normal limit.) I am all for it! |

In reply to Dave's message of 26 Jun 2026: ...I have to set the limiter to the speed limit which the car and google maps can detect.Yes, but the third thing there was the dynamic speed limit, set by the Matrix signs over the road. If sign 1 says 60, sign 2 says 50 and sign 3 says 60, and you drive by at 60 on cruise control, you'll get fined for the one sign saying 50. Even if there was nothing going on there. Average speed control is easy, even without a cruise control. Just let go of the pedal to compensate for possible exceeding of the speed limit. I do wonder how they're going to handle foreigners. |

Ha, that was my max temp today here too. It's now down to 34C. It's going to be another hot night. Maybe I can sleep this time? (I haven't slept in the past 36 hours). |

I don't know if this is the case in other countries but here a lot of cameras are not active all of the time. I think I read only about a third are at any one time so it is always possible some people might have access to the information about which ones work and which ones don't! |

In reply to Jord's message of 26 Jun 2026: Hot, isn't it?While our Dry season has been mostly dry to date, it's certainly been warmer than usual. It had been hitting 33°c (should've been around 30-31). But overnight it's been way above average- instead of around 20°c it's been around 24°c. It's only this week it's finally gotten down to around 31°c during the day and around 21°c overnight (it should be around 18°c by now with a few lower ones mixed in). Grant Darwin NT. |

In reply to Gary Charpentier's message of 26 Jun 2026: Stovepipe Wells it will be a more normal 38.8C Today it was 109F/42.8C in Lake Havasu Arizona where I spend my winters. Here in Anchorage it was a much more acceptable 63F/17.2C. |
