Hi, I've tried both available versions of BOINC app (beta 7.16.3 and recommended 7.4.53) on my Blackview BV7000 Pro ( SDK:24 ABI: arm64-v8a and OpenCL GPU Mali-T860 (3812MB) driver: 1.02)+ Android 7.0, with Rosetta and LHC. Both of them, after a while (few days for recommended, few hours for beta) and a lot of work done remains stuck on opening page. It happened after I set minimum requested battery at 0%. I did so because even if battery level was higher than minimum computation didn't restart, neither connecting charger (i set all options for working energy source). Unistalled and installed again, several times. What else should I do? Thanks a lot Mauro |

I'm Mauro Sauro on both projects. Rosetta ID: 2100501 LHC ID: 608798 CPID: 285b5ee6352cce31854bc48b16716fa4 Is it enough? Thanks |

It should be, thanks I will take a look at both, and get back to you shortly https://boinc.bakerlab.org/rosetta/results.php?hostid=4140916 appears to be yours, is that correct ? https://lhcathome.cern.ch/lhcathome/results.php?hostid=10643148 seems to be yours at LHC |

Thank you very much. Other info: recommended version was very unstable, crashed many times and forced system to restart. After restart it usually worked again, but last time. Beta version worked for about half day, then it stopped because overheathing. After that it was impossible to start again. |

Yes, it's correct. Last installation just worked with Rosetta, anyway. |

Yes, it's correct. Your phone has 8 cores, but I would recommend trying Rosetta on 1 or 2 only, because Rosetta is very resourse intensive How much free internal storage do you have (and external SD if you have it) ? Rosetta appears to make use of some fairly large temporary files. Officially Android doesn't make use of Swap or Page files, but I'm not an expert on that, it's possible that it's trying to use more space than you have allocated to BOINC |

I have 26GB free out on 54, no SD. Anyway, prelude messages to fatal crash are always connected with battery or power problems, like ' Connect your charger to restart' (when it's connected) or Computation will restart whit 30% battery level (now 95%). |

I just found your phone specs here https://www.techradar.com/uk/reviews/blackview-bv7000-pro It appears that you have 64 GB of internal storage, how much have you made available to BOINC ? |

Don't run on 8 cores. On most devices, 8 cores on Android means you are double loading 4 cores, the other 4 cores are used by Android only (that's a programming limitation set by Android that BOINC can't bypass). (Yours has 4×1.5 GHz ARM Cortex-A53 + 4×1.0 GHz ARM Cortex-A53) The only memory BOINC on Android uses is the RAM, not the storage - well, it uses the storage to store the tasks, but it doesn't use it for cache or anything. When your main memory runs out, that's it. BOINC will also use by default only 50% of RAM, so if you run into message that project X needs more memory, you have to enable the advanced preferences and move the RAM Limit slider to a higher value. Changes are instant. |

I have 26GB free out on 54, no SD. I have seen similar errors recently on this tablet :-( Definitely try running Rosetta 1 task at a time I've recently returned to Rosetta too https://boinc.bakerlab.org/rosetta/show_user.php?userid=150379 with mixed results ! What "Target Runtime" are you currently using ? I would probably set 2 Hours max in https://boinc.bakerlab.org/rosetta/prefs.php?subset=project and No New Tasks until you find stable settings, that should allow you to meet your current task deadlines without having to abort tasks. After that try minimum work fetch, on 2 cores, and see how that goes. Don't forget to update Rosetta after changing web preferences |

I just found your phone specs here https://www.techradar.com/uk/reviews/blackview-bv7000-pro I left default settings: at least 0,1 GB free |

(Yours has 4×1.5 GHz ARM Cortex-A53 + 4×1.0 GHz ARM Cortex-A53) Yes I had to change default value in this case (it wasn't enough for Rosetta), I set iat 90%, anyway 60% would have been enough |

I just found your phone specs here https://www.techradar.com/uk/reviews/blackview-bv7000-pro That's almost certainly not enough ! Try allowing BOINC to use 3-4 GB maximum, but keep At Least 2 GB free You might find this app helpful https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.advancedprocessmanager |
