Maybe they didn't like the look of you. ;)If bees don't like the look of me I don't mind them flying away. Stinging me on the other hand... |

There is no reason why you can't run an older Manager that works on 23.04. The two BOINC programs are independent of each other. Other than the Manager can't connect to a not running client. I am not surprised as I myself have never heard of this utility until you mentioned it. Very handy to figure out where to go to get a missing file. Thanks for the tip. |

I am not surprisedThe reason for my surprise is that I defenestrated 23 years ago and have followed discussion threads on Linux for most of that time. Though I was on RPM distributions till about 2010 or thereabouts. |

If I ever build another woodshed, it will be 2.4metres long. Surely you mean 8ft |

Always add a little bit so you can get a grasp on the lump of wood.... |

2.4metres is the description of the wood I am using for the long edges of the shed and the roof. I would happily go back to imperial units just so long as the minister for the 17th Century (or earlier) will demonstrate to me his ability to do long division using Roman numerals. If I ever build another woodshed, it will be 2.4metres long. |

Are you sure the dimension is 2.4 m most wood dimensions near that are 2.44 m which is 8 ft. edit: look at door sizes in the UK and then tell me they are not Imperial at multiples of 3 inches. |

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AShGmWyFamY Look at what happens to the raindrops after they hit. They just evaporate. Otherwise it is pretty good. |

No sense here in UK whether people in the Netherlands think it a good or a bad thing. |

Oh it's a good thing, because this cabinet wasn't sitting there for us, but only for themselves. All their plans that no one asked for. No solutions to all the big problems the same cabinet had caused in a previous life and wanted to solve. Nah, good riddance. Now to make sure they don't squirrely come back. |

Noticed recently a massive drop in boot times. Anyone else noticed this with recent Linux kernels? I am currently on 6.2.0-31-generic after today's update. |

Yes, the latest kernels have had lots of pruning done to them to remove old crud and speed them up. 6.5 kernel is even faster than the 6.2 kernel on my 7950X. |

I thought it must be something like that. I can wait till XUbuntu23.10 to move up to a 6.5kernel. |

I'm beginning to believe that the war in Ukraine has given politicians & their business cronies a feeble excuse to continue to rip us off. Just took the final electric reading of the year (Sept to Aug). That makes the fourth year of logging annual usage. Just before starting the logging, was paying £40 a month (up to Aug 2019}. 4 years ago was paying £50 a month. 3 years ago that went up to £60. 2 years ago it went up to £70. This year £80. According to Ofgem's new cap, it should drop by £12 a month approx. We'll see. |

This year £80.I wish I could claim prescience butit was about 20 months ago, shortly before the war in Ukraine started that I put an extra 3.4KW of solar on our roof bringing the total to 5.2KW. This time of year, our combined gas and electric bill is under £60. Based on last years usage, that will rise to about £80 in Dec/January. Unless there is a dramatic fall in prices, the new solar will have paid for itself in under 7 years. |
