How much does RAM speed matter, for IGPs, cellphones, or CPU crunching? I presume it doesn't matter much at all for GPU crunching? |

As with so many of your questions, 'it depends on the project'. Does their science - and their application - need large amounts of memory, and is it constantly swapping data in and out of memory? |

As with so many of your questions, 'it depends on the project' Or even on the particular applications from the project. a couple of the newer task types on CPDN it makes a lot more difference than on the older ones. |

Are you sure about that? Does it really matter if your memory speed is at 2133 MHz vs 2600 MHz vs 3200 MHz vs 3600 MHz for CPDN? I suppose it doesn't really matter much between those, other than their CAS latency? Lower latency RAM will swap data in and out faster, but slow latency on fast MHZ RAM will load slower than fast latency on low MHz RAM. |

Pretty sure it makes a difference on the openifs tasks which in testing were using 5GB RAM per task. (Actually peaking a bit above that then dropping rapidly down to about 2.3GB from a different sort of memory! But to be sure, I need to build a test rig as my own two machines are so different as to make comparisons useless. |

Does crunching on igp use the shared vram, like on a dgpu? |
