I have received the following error when trying to start the boinc_gui program (version 5.4.11):

Fatal Error: Mismatch between the program and library build versions detected.
The library used 2.6 (no debug,ANSI,compiler with C++ ABI 102,wx containers,compatible with 2.4),
and your program used 2.6 (no debug,ANSI,compiler with C++ ABI 1002,wx containers,compatible with 2.4).

I've forwarded this to the Boinc developers. Let's see who answers and where. ;-)

Offhand I'd say the wxGTK library was compiled with a different version of GCC than boincmgr. What version of gcc are you using (gcc --version) and where did you get wxGTK?

# gcc --version
gcc (GCC) 4.1.1 (Gentoo 4.1.1)

I run Gentoo Linux so wxGTK was installed as a package from source. I have likely had several gcc upgrades since wxGTK was installed. I will re-install it from my current gcc version and then re-install boinc and post the results when done.

I have re-installed both wxGTK and boinc and now the boinc_gui client runs without that mismatch error and I can see and manage the host.

Thanks for the pointer; I would never have know where to start looking.
