I'm using FOLDING@HOME and BOINC and love both, but my mother is lost... she need 25%cpu-wcg-run-at-sartup-and-I-dont-care.exe Im asking how many peoples we lost because there are lost in the complexity of boinc. we need a simplicity version where boinc can start default with example WCG. I really thing we need two version, completely. Super simple one and advanced one, but not two-in-one like the one we have. In the advanced one, serious need something more easy to manage multi computer, I can see on the wgc all my active PC, how hard is't to integrate some warning and controle from one boinc instance. |

she need 25%cpu-wcg-run-at-sartup-and-I-dont-care.exeIf that is what projects want, then in my view it is up to the individual projects to package a version like that. Because memory requirements, disk space etc vary so much between projects there won't be a one size fits all solution. Some projects that are more demanding of the computers they run on would not be able to do so without a significant number of users with a high level of computer literacy to identify issues and work out solutions. Even then, the set and forget crowd can be a pain in the proverbial. |

What you ask resembles an account manager. GridRepublic is the account manager that will let you add which projects to run and then downloads the World Community Grid BOINC (as far as I know, this may have changed) with that/those projects already added. This uses a user account, one that has to be set up by the user. Another option is to use Science United, another account manager that you tell in broad ways what you want to run and it downloads BOINC with the project(s) added that you chose the science for. SU runs with anonymous accounts. No user input to make the account is necessary. |

There's also remote control of BOINC on your mother's computer from yours. I've read about this, but have no real knowledge about it. |

For me you are right. The app is not sexy enough, but I think the programmers are equally not enough. I know this is a pain for the MacOS version. |
