Boinc 5.8.3-gnu. Problem: The size of the Manager is not always recorded. When I open it , I have to resize it. I noticed that when I change the language, the new size is recorded but else not. |

Boinc 5.8.3-gnu: Problem: I can't change the skin. Procedure: I've downloaded the Boinc Synergy skin and place the skins folder in the BOINC folder in Windows XP: I can change the skin I've downloaded the Boinc Synergy skin and place the skins folder in the BOINC folder in Linux Mandiva: I can't change the skin because in the box, I just see "default" and I don't see "Boinc Synergy/BS" (perhaps I missed something...) |

Boinc 5.8.3-gnu. Still me: I've found how to change the size of the manager: Open the manager, change the size, switch to the simple view, close the manager, open the manager, switch to advanced view: the Manager is in the size I've choosen each time I open and close it. It's a little complicated, isn't it :o) |

Boinc 5.8.3-gnu: It's working for me on XP. You'll want to unzip (or however they come) the folder from BS into the following directory. You might have to create the skins folder manually. I know I did a few versions back (5.7.x) C:\\Program Files\\BOINC\\Skins so it ends up looking like... C:\\Program Files\\BOINC\\Skins\\bam Kathryn :o) |

Yes, for me also, it's working on XP (read my first message again :o)) The problem is that it doesn't work in Linux, after following the same procedure. |

Doh... sorry... I misread it and/or got mixed up when I was typing my response. ::sigh:: Kathryn :o) |

Hi, just tested this with 5.8.3, and although the problem with the Advanced View is fixed when connecting to a remote 5.4.11, the issue with the Simple View is not - it still gives an error and shows no tasks. Retested in 5.8.4 and this is fixed now. |

Can someone tell me how to access my manager? I just changed over from dial-up to dsl and now when I log on I get a message that my password is incorrect? do I need to change proxy settings or what? |

Proxys aren't related to that since it's a "loopback connection" (from your computer to your computer). Open task manager and see if boinc.exe is running. Try closing BOINC Manager (via File|Exit, not the [X] button) and opening it again, it should restart the core client. |

I just upgraded from x86 5.8.3 to 5.8.4. I noticed considerable variability in benchmarks: 5.8.3 Whetstone=1787 Dhrystone=1623 5.8.4 #1 Whetstone=1913 Drystone= 1330 5.8.4 #2 Whetstone=4478 Drystone= 60278 I'm confused. What would happen if a scheduled time update happened to coincide with the benchmark? Could that have caused the problem? |

I have one real question. I had downloaded, and installed, 5.8.6a. I found that you had finally put in sortable columns. That was great. I also read that there was a problem in the DCF calculations, and so I downloaded and installed 5.8.7. Now, no sortable columns. Will they be back soon? It was great to be able to sort projects by name. Sort by earliest deadline. Sort whatever way you wanted. Please bring it back. |

Most buggy and broken though. So when/if they are fixed, it will be back. |

I see 5.8.8 is up now. I'm currently running 5.8.4 which seems OK so far, but I'm just about to go on holiday for 3 weeks so everything will be running unattended - would it be best to leave it on .4, or would .8 be safer? (or 5.4.11 for that matter?) |

(or 5.4.11 for that matter?) I just downloaded 5.8.8, and it seems behaved. If I was going to run un-attended for a few weeks, I might decide to go back to 5.4.11, but that had the EDF problem, where some WUs could throw it into EDF mode. While that might be OK, it might mess up WUs that don't checkpoint correctly, or at all. If you've already crunched for the project(s) that you're going to be running when unattended, and everything is working great so far, I would leave well enough alone. |

I installed 5.8.8 on a Windows host. Now I cannot use BoincView on another computer to manage that host. Installing 5.8.8 on Linux does not cause the same problem. The files gui_rpc_auth.cfg and remote_hosts.cfg are unchanged and still in place. |

... That's a good point, I'll do that :-) |
