ive been with the project from (way) before the BOINC time....
When BOINC came, i remember reading something about the updating of the software would go automatic and easier.

Yet i still have to update BOINC manager manually, accidently finding out that im behind several versions every time i check the site.

Why is the BOINC manager not updating automaticly?
Will it update automaticly in future versions?

It's not updating automatically out of security reasons. The science applications update automatically, if you aren't running an anonymous platform (app_info.xml).
But BOINC will need to be updated by you.

The BSG might have a check if there's a newer version available. It still won't download it automatically though.
