Is there a history about asking Microsoft and Sony about creating XBox and PS4 applications? Seems like a lot of untapped power. I have been donating any computer I can, but would like to be able to do more and my xbox sits idle most of the time... I figure someone else has looked into this, but I cannot find it in the archives.

Short answer: NO & NO.

Longer answer:
Both Microsoft XBox's and Sony's PS4 are LOCKED "proprietary" systems meaning NO ONE outside these companies have access to the "Main Operating System".

At one time (a while back in history) the Sony PS3's was able to be used at few BOINC projects with a special made boot CD but Sony locked it down after a few years.

Someone did ask on IGN board if it is it possible to rip off PS4 GPU and use it on PC?
