I know this topic is kinda like asking about religon, but I am curious. What have you found to be the best OS for the server side of BOINC? Which has seem to be the easiest to install, most stable, etc...?

Not OS... but which Linux version is the correct question. BOINC server can only run on Linux. Plus only with all the prerequisite software.

Read this cookbook for good Linux versions.

No, BOINC could be compiled on the most Unixes. So far I know uses SETI Solaris for the BOINC serves. Also, I have successfull running a BOINC server at HP-UX.

I would prefer HP-UX, because very stable, high perfomant, a lot of good performance and monitoring tools, good LVM implementation,....
But this is a personal descision...
