The next client version will be 5.2.0 ... with a working No New Work notion and a lot more useful and "to make it easier to connect" goodies.

But all in all, the 4 version will be going out. 5 is here soon. Just hope that all the major projects update their server software before it's coming out. :)

Ah, in the mean time, you could use 4.72 ... its NNW notification is showing. Get it at the download site.

By the time 5.2 comes out, it will be a mandatory update and all of the production projects will have changed to server 5 code. The Alphas, Betas etc. will probably follow soon.

As for the release notes, have you ever looked at the download site there on the right... version details. What do you think those are?

Yes yes, you want them as a readme file with the install. Seriously: How many people read the readme file? How many people read the license agreement? Why not leave them on the website, next to the download?

Interesting - I'm running 4.72 on both Windows and Mac, and find it to be the most stable, reliable, bug-free version... What bugs have you found in it? (Know the Messages tab "copy" still doesn't work on Mac...)

All the time I ran 4.72 it ran extremely stable as well. Must have been a figment of my imagination. :)

Just as I see 5.1.6 run very stable now. And seeing how quiet it is on the alpha list, we must all see this. We're all going crazy. :D

I have also been lucky enough to have few real problems. Of course it has been that way for a long time. The last version that didn't like my computers was in the 2.xx range somewhere.

I have a bug with "Network activity suspended" option. When I suspend network activity for BOINC, it still send requests to project servers (only up/downloads are suspended).
When I select "Network activity based on preferences" and set a time i.e. from 1:00 to 7:00 this option is worked. But when I select "Network always available" or "Network activity suspended", BOINC continue uses these preference option values. Only when I again reset preferences to zero values, BOINC uses "always available" and "suspended" options.

I have a bug with "Network activity suspended" option. When I suspend network activity for BOINC, it still send requests to project servers (only up/downloads are suspended).

This is by design, network requests by user are always allowed:

From the checkin-notes:
check for master file fetch and user-requested scheduler RPCs
before checking network_suspended flag.
Otherwise the user might get into a state where their
prefs don't allow network access (e.g. because of time-of-day),
and they can't do an "update" to change the prefs

When I select "Network activity based on preferences" and set a time i.e. from 1:00 to 7:00 this option is worked. But when I select "Network always available" or "Network activity suspended", BOINC continue uses these preference option values. Only when I again reset preferences to zero values, BOINC uses "always available" and "suspended" options.

This should be fixed with 5.1.9.
