Climate@Home is a research project that uses Internet-connected computers to do research for climate change prediction. You can participate by downloading and running a free program on your computer. The initiative, called Climate@Home, is unprecedented in scope. Never before has NASA attempted to recruit so many people to help perform research vital to forecasting the Earth's climate in the 21st century under a wide range of different situations. https://www.nasa.gov/offices/ocio/ittalk/08-2010_climate.html https://www.giss.nasa.gov/tools/modelE/ How to join Climate@Home Version 2? Climate@Home uses BOINC, VirtualBox and Docker to support climate simulation. To join Climate@Home Version 2, you need to have:
2) Your BOINC client should be 7.6.33 and up 3) You have to install VirtualBox 4)If you are using Windows, your VirtualBox version should be 5.1.18; If you are using Linux or Mac, the VirtualBox version should be 5.0 and up
2) network contribution 3) disk storage contribution

Hey Kai, What is your association with NASA and the George Mason University? Looking at the source articles and the last developer activity https://modelingguru.nasa.gov/community/atmospheric/boinc it doesn't look like climate@home has been active for approx 7 years. You should consider adding captcha on registration pages, preventing bots from signing up. You can also see the default apache page on https://climateathome.info Your domain whois details are also showing your personal details, like home address and phone number. When you navigate within your BOINC project, the domain disappears from the URL and is replaced with the IP. Also, SSL isn't enforced throughout the website :( I look forwards to your reply. |

Hi CM, Thanks for your response and suggestions. Actually the Climate@Home terminated about 3 or 4 years ago. But we still use it for our spatiotemporal computing experiments. I have added captcha to registration page, it is awesome. I use Godaddy to register the domain, however, it needs additional money to hide my private info and I didn't pay that additional money. So they put my info online. I fixed the SSL and URL issue. For the default apache page, it probably take a while for me to fix. |

Quick response and great work on improving the security of your website, I'd advise that you also look into hardening access to the admin panel if possible (make sure you're not using a default password). The SSL Cert has an A grade! https://www.ssllabs.com/ssltest/analyze.html?d=climateathome.info Excellent! You mentioned spatiotemporal computing experiments, this was an old BOINC project of yours a few years ago yeah? Is this project a long-term project or a short term project like the qos one? I've created a thread for your project over on the Gridcoin forums: https://cryptocointalk.com/topic/53533-climatehome/ Would you be interested in an interview by the Gridcoin community in the future regarding your BOINC project and ongoing research? Some of the previous interviews we've held: https://soundcloud.com/gridcoin-community-hangouts/sets/interviews (3 more awaiting upload). If your project is whitelisted within the Gridcoin network then a lot of computing power could be directed towards your research, if you're interested? We're currently the #1 team in BOINC: http://formula-boinc.org/ |

Thanks. This is a short term project like QoS project for research. I am happy to give an interview and we can schedule a time for the interview. Could you help to add the project to the whitelist since I need more power for the research. |

Would you please clarify your affiliations with NASA, GMU, etc.? None of the links you provide here or on the site have any references back towards your project. And, as someone else has pointed out, the registrar info appears to be you and not an organization. I am eager to assist a new climate modeling project, but I want to know about who is conducting the research, and how the results will be used. My Detailed BOINC Stats |

Hi Kai, I am happy to give an interview and we can schedule a time for the interview. We've done so far interviews with 7 BOINC admins (see here). Just tell me when you have time, and we will adjust to your schedule (you can also PM me). The interview will have about 1h duration, and questions template is here. See you, Erkan Standing on the shoulders of giants |
