I suggest that the last three posters have singled themselves out as being out of step with the rest of the country, and indeed the rest of the world. Two of them I would expect, the third is a surprise. I'm afraid you're the one out of touch. Putting troops on the street is a clear indication of law & order breaking down to the extent that Police & Government has lost control. Before you argue over that, answer this: Just what was Northern Ireland? One cannot put trained professionals whose main purpose to defend the country in a military manner as police officers. To do so, tells the terrorists as well as the rest of the world that control has been lost. |

However levels of immigration are not the basic problem, religious fanaticism and radicalisation is. Unbridled immigration is the problem. Many do welcome the opportunities that this country does provide, but no matter what you say, or anyone else for that matter, they only have allegiance for their country of birth, or their parents country of birth if they were born here. |

Next thing you know the N.W.O will be taking over , least the Army's " hands " ain't tied so much by the " bleeding heart lefty liberal " rules the Police have to " play by " these days . If there is another attack in the " offing " I'd rather the ar#ewipe trying it was " dropped " stone dead than injured and the costs involved with treating them and then the trial and Incarseration ( where there's a LOT of this religious crap has got hold on the wings , the P.O's can't do nothing about it coz breaks their " rights " boll#x !!!!!!!!!!!!!) |

Oh dear, we can't do that boyo, the BHL's will have their panties in a twist. As Gibraltar showed with the SAS, when they get their panties untwisted, they whip the poor buggers into court. |

One cannot put trained professionals whose main purpose [is] to defend the country in a military manner as police officers. To do so, tells the terrorists as well as the rest of the world that control has been lost. You did not understand what I said. Sorry Boyo, I'm like you I'm an Englishman at least by your very own definition. Sends a powerful message does it? Tell that to France. Wake up boyo! |

Imagine more attacks spread out over the next 5-10 years each time the security gets tighter and tighter, till we are afraid to go anywhere in our cities and we have armed soldiers on every street corner, stopping people at random. That doesn't seem like the sort of world I want ot live in.The military playing the part of the ministry to prevent vice and promote virtue. Sharia law and they have won. ![]() |

The military playing the part of the ministry to prevent vice and promote virtue. Sharia law and they have won. Maybe in your country , never here in the Uk !!!!!!!!!!! |

The time to really worry is when they're on par with the West, & that is not going to take as long as many may think "They are growing increasingly adept at killing us. Are we as inventive about saving lives? Or do bureaucracy, inertia and failures of our own imagination stand in the way?" Good question. |

Manchester attack: Security services find more bomb-making materials in hunt for UK terror network. Got to wonder what use the intelligence offices are when with all of the privacy we have turned in, they still can't find things like this before they go off. |

Taking a helicopter view of the current situation I need to remind myself that the sort of people that are attracted to bulletin boards in the first place are far more likely to be left wing than anything else. I class myself as centre right, so it is not surprising that my views clash with the majority. As Mark says "Am I bovvered?".I can't say I'd noticed that in, say, the Politics thread at SETI that spawned this spin-off. But I would suggest that scientific / research bulletin boards in general, and SETI in particular, might be expected to attract people who take a satellite rather than a helicopter viewpoint: those who remember the impact of the original 'earthrise' photograph from moon orbit, and are more likely to take a global perspective where national and political boundaries are invisible. |

You were talking about "people ... attracted to bulletin boards": that's the posting population at large, and I think your assertion is false. A mod team of seven is unrepresentative and irrelevant.I can't say I'd noticed that in, say, the Politics thread at SETI that spawned this spin-off.Are you being serious Richard? The majority of the Seti mod team are BHL's and their leader leans so far left, he hangs out of the side window when driving his car!!! |

So much for the "Special Relationship". Now do you " understand " my view of the ohh so " special , special relationship" they " screw " GB over every time and no one can argue against my stance after the as#ewipes did this , that's at the very least " sensitive info " at this stage let alone what about the family's feelings of the dead , injured and missing . Two faced bunch of wa#kers just like your current " pres" !!!! ( then again those in the USA probably won't hear this off their mainstream news coz can't have America looking bad can we ???? ) Are you being serious Richard? The majority of the Seti mod team are BHL's and their leader leans so far left, he hangs out of the side window when driving his car!!! That's a very polite way of putting it and it's 100% correct , i would quite happily say the same ( but less " moderated " to ANY of their faces ) and serious there , as people they are probably ok but better not put what i really think even tho some already know :-) Anyho time for FP1 @ Monaco , go Jenson make the season :-) |

I've just come back from the corner shop after getting the daily paper, and a couple of grocery items. There were 5 people in the shop including me. Some chap in the queue was spouting on about "We'll never beat 'em wot's the point of trying?". He was rounded on by two others and told in no uncertain terms what they thought of his comments. He slunk out red faced after paying for his goods.Just so long as 'beating' them involves evidence, arrest and trial to a professional standard: we could do without collateral damage from either gung-ho policing (Charles de Menezes?) or amateur vigilantism. Message boards, bloggers - much the same community, I fear. Katie Hopkins: I rest my case. |

Here's your answer: Security services missed five opportunities to stop the Manchester bomber The Manchester suicide bomber was repeatedly flagged to the authorities over his extremist views, but was not stopped by officers, it emerged Wednesday night. Counter Terrorism agencies were facing questions after it emerged Salman Abedi told friends that “being a suicide bomber was okay”, prompting them to call the Government’s anti-terrorism hotline. Sources suggest that authorities were informed of the danger posed by Abedi on at least five separate occasions in the five years prior to the attack on Monday night. The authorities were also aware that Abedi’s father was linked to a well-known militant Islamist group in Libya, which is proscribed in Britain. Abedi also had links to several British-based jihadis with Isil connections. So you have five people of the public call wolf and the authorities ignore all of them immediately? Who's going to be fired over this? Edit: fix link |

I wasn't suggesting that Cressida Dick was gung-ho, but re-read Seven [police] mistakes that cost De Menezes his life - especially the contradictory reports of what happened in the final moments. I think it's common to both accounts that Jean Charles was under restraint ('pinned back in his seat') when he was shot from close range. |
