Hi everyone

I'm new to this forum (been in DC for a long time - running Rosetta now), and I've done a search for this but can't find anything on it, although it's probably been discussed.

Is there anything in the pipline to change the number of preferences avaiable - e.g. more than just Default, Home, School, Work?

I'm not running that many computers and have already found that to be limiting! Preferably I'd like to see an unlimited (within reason!) number of preferences available, each being renamable.

I do like the (new? never noticed it before) option to show the preferences as a table (using the 'change view' link). However, at the bottom of that table I'd like to see a list of which computers are currently using each of those settings - I think that would make things a lot clearer.

Finally, I don't know if this is a Rosetta or BOINC issue, but under the Rosetta preferences section, if you switch to the table view only the first column (default) shows the run time - the rest are blank.

I can post some screenshots to show what I mean if I've not been clear enough here.

cheers
Danny

This has been asked for by a few people in the BOINC user survey, but I've seen no feedback yet on the poll nor mention of it on Alpha testers mailing list. To me it seem like a good idea for people that have farms of computers at various locations and usages. The only option currently available is the use of a Preferences override file on computers that need different preferences than those set at the web site.

BoincView has a server list which displays the venues.

After attaching a computer to a new project, it often changes the venue because I forgot to set the default project venue correct. The venue list is very helpful in those cases.

Another improvement related to that would be, if the server would take over the host venue on the first contact, if the host already has other projects. The current method always looked somehow faulty to me.

Hi

I'm finding this to be a real problem, and will do so more as i add PCs. Rather than the four profiles I listed originally, I've found that 'no profile' i.e. default actually defaults to my Home profile. This means that rather than four profiles available there are actually three! Can anyone from the dev team suggest whether this is practical to change to be able to add (and rename) profiles?

thanks
Danny

BAM! (Boinc Account Manager) already allows to add your own venue. So if you were to attach to the projects through BAM, you could define a venue yourself.

Just to confirm - lets say I set up 10 preferences in BAM and apply them to the appropriate hosts. These preferences take precedence over the project preferences - correct?

Best ask this on the BAM forums.
