I am having problems attaching to new accounts. I have attached to 6 projects in the past, the last a couple of weeks ago without problems.
Now I enter the URL of the new project, and it then moves to the screen which allows creating a new account. However, the "create new account" option is greyed out and only "use existing account" is available. If I try any account it fails. I've tried it on a couple of my computers and "Create new account" is not available on either of them. Any suggestions?

Which BOINC versions are you using on all those computers and under what OSes do they run?
Which projects are you trying to attach to?

I am using BOINC version 5.2.13 on machines all running Windows XP. I have attached to and been running 6 projects over the past 10 months or so and, except for having to back up Climateprediction to get around occasional crashes, it has run relatively trouble free. LHC and Predictor haven't been supplying much work lately so I attached to Rectilinear Crossing Numbers a couple of weeks ago without problems. I tried to attach to Spinhenge a couple of days ago and had this problem. I tried again from a different computer in a different location to see if the problem was computer specific but no luck on either one. I also tried attaching to a few other new projects and same problem - the "create new account" is greyed out.

Spinhenge is invitation only, so what other projects have you also tried??

Edit: I'm willing to bet any other projects you have tried also have account creation closed

The problem is that several projects tell you to use BOINCManager, but nowhere do they tell you that the project is closed or by invitation only :-)

Yup it is a problem as not everyone who uses BOINC will understand why the option has been grayed out, such as the guy who has asked for help here

You guys are right. I initially also had trouble with SZTAKI grid, but later it worked fine. I went back to Spinhenge site after reading your comments and I still couldn't see anywhere that it said invitation only. However, in future I won't be thrown by this. Thanks for the help.

If you have recently looked at Spinhenge then you would not have noticed it as its now open to all.
